AUTODESK EVENT ANALYSIS
Incident Number: #COE-INC117891
Incident Date: April 23, 2025
Summary
On April 23, 2025, between 06:30 AM PDT and 05:06 PM PDT, Autodesk customers using ACC Admin Console & ACC Build were unable to create new projects in the US region.
Impacted Services
- ACC Admin console
- ACC Build
Root Cause
- The trigger of the incident was a spike in traffic which combined with multiple rate limiting policies led to traffic being rejected. While in the normal circumstances this would be auto retried and recovered soon after, a recently introduced defect in the retry logic impacted the load to Autodesk’s cloud services multifold instead of smoothening it out.
Autodesk Actions
Autodesk has completed a post-incident analysis of the event and identified actions to be taken. These include the following:
- The defect in the retry system has since been fixed.
- Further review/enhancements of the retry logic to include circuit breaker and/or exponential backoff.
- Re-configure the rate limiting policies such that multiple policies don’t contend with each other.
- One of our third-party providers has taken actions which include the review of support policies and enhanced visibility of rate limiting policy execution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
