Summary
On September 11, 2024, at 02:00 PM PDT until September 12, 2024, at 09:10 AM PDT, Autodesk experienced a performance degradation that impacted customers using BIM 360 Account Admin. Customers attempting to log in or invite members experienced slower than usual response times.

Root Cause

  • A single account created 2600 new projects in ACC from project templates via third party automation. This sudden spike in traffic led to delays in processing incoming commands with available processing power and in turn led to delays in member login and invite.

Autodesk Actions
Autodesk has completed a post-incident analysis of the event and identified actions to betaken. These include the following:

  • Improvements to alerting and monitoring
  • Investments in improved caching mechanisms
  • Queueing strategy improvements to better handle traffic spikes
  • Increase shared DB connection pooling
