Service Degradation [ Autodesk Build (Europe) ]
Incident Report for Autodesk Health Dashboard
Postmortem

Summary

On December 2, 2022, Autodesk experienced an issue that impacted customers using Autodesk
Build on the European data center customers between 1:30 AM PST and 4:18 AM PST.

Impacted Services

  • Customers using Autodesk Build on the European data center were unable to use the
“select set” page to upload sheets.

Root Cause

  • A release on November 30 contained an update to the Sheet select set page. This
release did not include instructions for API requests to specify a region, causing I
requests to be routed to the U.S. data center. As a result, sheet upload requests failed
for customers in the EMEA region (Data meant for the European data center was not
uploaded to the U.S. data center).

Autodesk Actions

Autodesk has completed a post-incident analysis of the event and identified actions to be
taken. These include the following:

  • Added region information to all API requests
  • Conducting region-specific testing for all new features
  • Adding improved error handling for this specific API request that uploads Sheets
  • Identifying other measures to prevent similar errors in the future

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
